Colleges get grant for response effortsDALLAS (AP) - Pennsylvania's colleges and universities Wednesday received a $500,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency for emergency response efforts. The funding will go toward a project called "Ready Campus" that involves training sessions this fall at the College of Misericordia and at sites in Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and Harrisburg. The money also will help pay for a manual for developing campus-community emergency response partnerships and other safety efforts. The training sessions will be led by experts in risk management, civic engagement, disaster planning and other areas. Presenters will discuss how campus safety directors, faculty and students best can respond in the event of an emergency. |
